The ground-mounted system "NalpSolar"
The ground-mounted system is to be built in Tujetsch in the canton of Grisons, above the Lai da Nalps reservoir. The land should still be able to be used as pastureland after the plant has been built.
The project in numbers:
- is located at around 2000 metres above sea level
- 8 megawatts of installed capacity
- produces almost 11 gigawatt hours of electricity per year
- Electricity equivalent to the consumption of over 2000 households per year
Solar project also important for the Tujetsch municipality
Martin Cavegn, president of the municipality of Tujetsch, is pleased about the economic impulse for his municipality. "According to the feasibility study, the location of the alpine solar plant right next to the Nalps reservoir is ideal. On the one hand, the project creates local added value in our municipality, but on the other hand, we can also make a contribution to the expansion of renewable energies, especially in the winter months."
The "NalpSolar" project is important for the municipality for the following reasons:
- important large-scale project for winter electricity
- The project is located next to the existing dam, i.e. the landscape has already been used for electricity generation.
- Can serve as a showcase for other communities
- Creates local added value
- Generates climate-friendly electricity
The municipality of Tujetsch is contributing to a secure power supply and is probably the first energy village in Switzerland with hydropower and solar power on this scale.
